Breathwork

What and why?

We have been loving all the hype around breathing in recent years. The ability to reset, take a moment, and feel peace - all from focusing on your breath.

 

The simple instruction: breathe - allowing us to improve performance, and be in the moment.

Focusing on your breath can help speed up recovery in elite sports.

The first step to using your breath to improve performance is to notice your breathing. Do you breathe through your nose, or mouth, or a mixture of both? A quick tip: try and breathe through your nose, even during hard exercise. It takes practice, but it’s worth it.

The second step is to be able to find calm through your breath, and to choose it. In a moment of stress - whether that's going in to cold water, or when you are feeling angry - take a handful of deep breaths and allow yourself to be calmed by it.

Allow your breath to help your body relax. You perform better when you’re calm, whether that's in icy water, in a kickboxing fight, or during a moment of frustration. You’ll perform better if you’re calm.
